Many people are getting involved in book of the month clubs. The book of the month club has been around for many years, however recently there is renewed interest in getting together with others to discuss the book of the month. Many people credit Oprah for this increased interest. Oprah has been selecting a book of the month to read with a group and then shows clips of the group discussion on her television show.

To start a book of the month club approach four or five people that you enjoy spending time with. Invite them to come over to your home one evening and ask each to bring the title of two or three books that they find interesting.

Create a comfortable sitting area in an area of your home and serve refreshments and dessert. Then as a group develop the parameters of your book of the month club. This does not have to be complicated, but it does assure that future gatherings do not hold any surprises for people. Decide which day of the month and what time works best for everyone.
