Help To Get Rid Of African Poverty

The promises made, concerning African poverty, at the recent G8 Summit are under scrutiny now. Progress on carrying out the promises must be monitored closely. Politicians have the ultimate power to get rid of African poverty once and for all.

Celebrities such as Bob Geldof and Bono do the invaluable work of keeping the issue uppermost in our minds and on the news. Everyone, as an individual, can also do his or her bit. The only way out of African poverty is for all African communities to become self sufficient, and that is something we can all give and aim for.

There have been many attempts to rid the world of African poverty. It seems obscene that it still exists in the 21st century. Whilst some African countries have made advances, others struggle terribly. Wars, drought, crop failure, disease, corrupt government and the apathy of the West have all played a part.

Charities do their bit to help. One of my friends used to be a member of an organization that recruits people to sponsor individuals in Africa. There was one who sponsors a little girl in a remote village in Malawi. This organization, and similar ones, works in a clever way to combat African poverty. It allows us to establish a personal relationship with one child, but the money we send each month helps the whole community. They have used the money towards the cost of building a school and to dig a well.

It has also been used to buy mosquito nets, to address the problem of infant Malaria, and to buy school equipment as well. The sponsored child writes letters to my friend through an interpretator, and he send letters to her through and fro never forget the occasional gifts. The organization sends him reports on the work they do in the community and articles about African poverty in general.

This sponsorship is incredibly important to everyone in the community. As each village becomes self sufficient, the organization moves on to another community caught up in African poverty and invites its sponsors to take up a new sponsorship there.

It's a wonderful example of a well thought out and long term strategy. Some charitable giving has to deal with short-term emergencies of course. Just imagine, however, if everyone who could afford to became a sponsor. Just think what effect that would have on African poverty.

The other way in which you can try to give support is to buy Fair Trade goods in the local stores. The Fair Trade movement has been most successful in trying to combat African poverty by setting a fair price for farmers and growers in Africa, so they can achieve a reasonable standard of living.

Some of the independent companies that have taken up the Fair Trade cause have been successful enough to be bought out by well-known brands. If you buy Fair Trade coffee, tea, chocolate and bananas. So ok, it's just my little bit imagination, once again, if everyone did the same. How about a little help from you?

Credit Card Rates Are Not Stable

What kind of Credit Card rates are you finding now days? I have to say that I usually get a few pitches in the mail on a daily basis. If it's not Visa, it's MasterCard, and if it's not American Express, it's Discover card. I'm sure you can relate on that. When it comes to Credit Card companies, one thing they are very adamant about is pitching.

Sometimes I just want to send them a memo regarding all the paper they're wasting. Because come on, how many of these are you tearing up, or sticking through the shredder? It's not as if we can literally get every Credit Card they encourage us to apply for.

Even when your Credit limit is almost used up, they are still sending brochures to encourage you for a special loans with low interest rate, why can't they track that we have nothing much to go for? I think it is because of their company structure which one department do the promotion while another do the Credit check, isn't it?

Finally, of course there is the whole deal with the Credit Card rates. Most initial rates are 0 percent on all balance transfer. However, when it comes to purchases, it's typically nothing as generous. Believe me; these companies know how much we like to spend, and they're out to make loads of cash off of us. It's the same with the 0 percent Credit Card rates on balance transfer.

They're basically hinting for you to transfer any large amount that you're currently paying too much interest on. However, do we fall for this routine spiel? Of course we do. We want that 0 APR as long as we can have it. Even if it's only for the first year. After that, it may be time to check out new Credit Card rates and transfer that nasty balance again.

If you are on the lookout for a Credit Card, but aren't sure about current Credit Card rates, then it's the time you hopped online. The Internet can and will provide you with who has the best offers at this point of time. Find those ideal Credit Card rates in a flash when you use the World-Wide-Web. Just don't go too crazy with the charging.

Do you have a Credit Card? How many are stacked in your wallet or purse? Are you toting around a few Platinums and that American Express card with no limit? Yikes, this can get a little dangerous if you're not careful.

As most of us know, the old Credit Card rates can change on a dime, and then you're suddenly losing hundreds a month in nasty interest, especially when the time you are not paying off all the bills at once! You better watch out, as they will rise.

That's always a major bummer. Who ever invented the Credit Card, anyway? You'd think they would have come up with one that had a fixed 0 percent APR on all purchases. Don't those Credit Card companies realize that's what we're all looking for?

Anna Sui and Her Collections

Who is Anna Sui? Found out more about her collections and how did she make it? Before we begin, you might want to know that all of the collection is available to order online, and there are sales items posted on the web site too as Anna Sui continues to bring out her collections, drawing from different inspirational ideas each time. The shows are always well received. She is always open about the source of her ideas, and still keep an eye on what is in the magazines, mixing that with some classic looks from the past.

It does takes a lot of hard work and determination to reach the top of the fashion business, and Anna Sui has certainly succeeded in doing it. Time Magazine included her in the list of five most important fashion gurus of this decade. She was born in Detroit in 1955 and moved to New York City after High School. She enrolled at the prestigious Parsons School of Design and went on to work as a stylist for the fashion photographer, Steven Meisel.

After designing clothes as a young woman, inspired by the models in magazines, Anna Sui finally found her own style. She developed her designing business throughout the 1980s and was ready to put on her first runway show in 1991. The models included Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista.

Anna launched her own clothing line the following year and opened the first of her boutiques in New York City. Eventually she would have boutiques in Tokyo, Osaka, Hollywood, and Los Angeles. She has continued to be particularly popular in Japan, and has designed the costumes for an Anime (Japanese style animation), television series.

The collection is sold in over thirty countries, and commands premium price tags as befits a top designer label. The range of dresses, tops, and skirts etc. has a contemporary feel about it. Anna Sui says she was inspired by the Rock Chic look. There are also accessories for sale such as bags and belts. Her status is sealed by the endorsement of an impressive list of celebrities including Madonna, Christina Ricci, Cher, Courtney Love, and Patricia Arquette. Nevertheless, James Iha of the Smashing Pumpkins is also a fan of her.

In 1997, the footwear collection was launched. Shoes, boots, and sandals are available as casual daywear and for formal evening occasions. There are several different materials used, including Silk, Shearling, Suede, Patent Leather, Velvet, as well as snake and lizard skin. The Anna Sui fragrance, aftershave, and cosmetic lines came out two years later. The fragrance bottles are particularly inventive, and include a butterfly shape and a Mannequin head design. Toiletries include Eau De Toilette spray, body cream, bath and Shower Gel.

Why not exploring some of her collection online easily? After all what you need is a computer and online connection. More articles about people can be found at Writer's Resources Feature Article Topics categories.

Airline Fares Are Not Meant To Be Equal

A friend in the Airline industry then told me about how the system actually works. Usually an Airline operator has a basic cost that they need to cover in order to make their trip profitable. This (which is very different from the Airline fares we pay) is a low figure that includes fuel charges, service charges, salaries and equipment cost etc.

The Airline fares we pay are from this base component, plus the profit margin of the Airlines, with the taxes and surcharges imposed by the airport and finally, the commissions charged by various tourist operators or booking agents.

Now the affordability of your Airline fares depends almost entirely on the premium that your agent is going to charge you for. If it is someone whom you deal with on a fairly regular basis, he may decrease the commission you have to pay out. If it is someone you are dealing with for the first time, be prepared to pay through your nose.

Nevertheless, try to bargain with your travel agent. If the trip is international and have entails hotel bookings as well, ask them if they will cover your visa charges. If the trip is domestic, ask them if they can provide you with vouchers of any sort. These travel agents are usually a well connected and depending on your destination, they just might have the right deal to sweeten your Airline fares!

Have you ever wondered about the unfairness of Airline fares? I have, and constantly at that. Each time I get into a flight I make it a point to ask my co passengers, at least those within hearing distance, what Airline fares they paid for the privilege of traveling together.

And each time to their surprise, and my glee, they have all provided different amounts. In one memorable case, the difference in Airline fares that a man and his co-passenger in the next seat paid was vast enough to straddle a couple of hundred dollars. This led to a very amusing fight that the cabin crew was hard pressed to break up.

But anyways, coming back to the topic of Airline fares, they really are atrocious. I mean, I have booked my tickets at various times. When time has been on my side, I have made my bookings well in advance. Especially when it comes to business travel, I have often been forced to make my bookings at the last minute. Unbelievably, there are times when I have paid more expensive Airline fares for my bookings at leisure than the Airline fares I paid for my last minute rush. How do you explain that?

Will You Enjoy AOL For Broadband?

AOL for broadband has its advantages, and you will find many customers who have used AOL for dialup with stay with them for switching to broadband services. While I do not know for sure, AOL has probably come up with a better way to keep customers and hold them back; perhaps by offering the entire package for the same price you might get from your phone or cable company. However, if you have been dissatisfied in the past, you may be eager to try some other ISPs.

The time you have spent with AOL may make your decision for you. If you have not had a pleasant experience on them with dialup, you may not want to get AOL for broadband when you intend to switch to a faster connection. If you want to stay with them, ask them for a deal, a great one as possible. They may give you what you want in order to keep you as a customer. Just like any other products and services, AOL for broadband will have its good points and its bad points; the final decision should be about service and price. However, it's all up to you to decide.

If you are switching from dialup Internet service, or already using AOL, they may offer you AOL for broadband when you made the switch. For many AOL users, this is something they do because they do not want to lose and change their AOL email address that they may have been using for years. However, for those who have never had AOL, you might wonder if this is something you want to do first.

The last time I moved, I signed up for a free trial with AOL dialup before I decided I would rather have DSL or Cable Internet. The trial was fine, but I had a hard time getting out of it once I decided to go another way through. They hounded me to purchase AOL for broadband, even though I repeatedly said I don't need it. It was an extra cost beyond what I needed to pay for my monthlt Internet service.

The more I said no, the more they tried to convince me. I have to hand it to them, they are good at what they do, and I realize the person I was talking to was only doing his job. The competition for your Internet dollar bill is fierce, and they want to get and keep all the customers they can wherever possible. I was not convinced that I needed to pay an extra five dollars a month for AOL for broadband. At the end, they finally listened.

Affordable Health Care Plans For Your Protection

One of the most important thing you need to do for affordable health care is make sure you have some sort of coverage for medical emergencies and expenses. Medical emergencies are not something that happens only to other people. A health care crisis could hit your family anytime just when you least expect it.

Just as everyone should have a family doctor, mechanic, and lawyer they trust, they should also have a local insurance agent or agency that is trustworthy. If you do not have a family insurance agent, ask friends and relatives whom they go to for their insurance needs. A recommended, reliable, insurance agent is sure to be able to provide you with affordable health care coverage or at least will be able to direct you to someone who can assist you in this goal.

Everyone in the country wants is affordable health care. In the past few decades, the cost of health care has sky rocketed. Lots of people used to rely on their employers to provide good, affordable heath care; now businesses are cutting benefits to cut costs. This does not mean that it is impossible to be adequately covered in case of a medical emergency.

As many of us are painfully aware, employers are cutting costs where affordable health care is concerned. Often employers are expecting employees to pay a greater share of the total of the monthly, yearly, or quarterly premiums. Many people think they cannot allow for affordable health care on their budget. They simply not to sign up to the company health care plan.

At the same time, these same people will always find a way to afford vices like Cable television, cigarettes, junk foods, and alcohols. Perhaps if you cut down or gave up some of these luxuries, you would find the money to pay for an affordable health care premium.

If you are married and both of you work, you may want to look carefully at the health care plans provided at both places of work. Many people have found that if one spouse’s health care plan seems to be a little sparse in coverage or non-existent, the other spouse’s may be a little more of what they had in mind.

Sometimes your employer’s health care plan for you is not the best option or is simply unavailable. If there are not enough people in the company you work for to qualify for a group coverage plan, which is usually always cheaper, perhaps you will want to discuss your options with your local insurance agent. The same agent that provides coverage for your house, and car may also provide affordable health care insurance.

Some insurance companies provide a Cafeteria plan for those that rely on their coverage. A Cafeteria plan allows you to select what options you want to be covered for. This makes affordable health care possible by making sure you won't have to pay for anything unwanted. More about health at Writer's Resources Feature Article Topics.

Adult Online Personals Are Not That Lousy

Adult Online personals are a good alternative to the traditional ways of meeting people not only for dating but also for business and networking. Most everyone who has considered logging into to one of the Internets Adult Online personals websites has taken a pause.

The first feeling is that maybe these websites for Adult Online personals are only for people interested in just one thing. On the other hand, perhaps other people think that these websites are just for losers who could not meet any normal people the normal way. Neither one of these ideas comes close to being true.

The idea that Adult Online personals are just for people interested in sex is very wrong. There are websites with Adult Online personals that are tailored just for who you are. You don't not need to be a swinger to join in. There are sites for your particular religious and lifestyle beliefs. In addition, they are easy to find. The best part of Adult Online personals is that you choose who you want to communicate with.

This is the modern age of computers and the Internet. Both have changed the way we work, shop, and really, lives. Finding a special purpose is just part of the changes that have happened in the last ten years. Adult Online personals are part of that change.

Let's be honest. Your world only includes a set number of people that are available to you for friendship, dating, and perhaps a stronger and longer relationship. What if there was a way to expand that number a thousand times. Well, there is. You can go to every bar and disco in town and find all the people you want, right?

Nevertheless, the process of 'Bar hopping' exposes you to people that, frankly, you do not want to spend anytime with. Further, particularly for women, you may be exposing yourself to all the crazies that are out there. In come Adult Online personals that can expand your world while offering you a way to narrow your search for people and give you a strong element of privacy and security.

Privacy and security are important and we all hear stories about the problems that can occur. My personal advice to you is this, be cautious, very cautious about the information you give out over the Internet and especially through Adult Online personals. However, having said that, it is really no big deal. You can protect yourself more easily on the Net than from some undesirable person following you home or coming to your office.

You select the parameters of the kinds of people you want to introduce yourself to. You have the opportunity to check them out quickly and comfortably before even thinking of meeting them in person. That is one of the greatest advantages of Adult Online personals. Some of these charge a fee for their premium services like email and the like. However, the cost is about the same you would spend in an hour at the bar.

Adult Attention Deficit Disorder And Its Treatment

Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, or adult ADD, can be a very frustrating condition to have. Most healthcare professionals will agree that there are also a number of non-medication based steps you can take to alleviate some of your Adult Attention Deficit Disorder Symptoms.

Getting regular vigorous exercise has been shown to help many people with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder. In addition, a diet high in lean protein is recommended. Keeping lists, writing notes, breaking large tasks down into smaller parts and taking other similar steps to counter your disorder will certainly help as well.

Almost all of the initial research and focus for the Attention Deficit Disorders was on children and adolescents, but adults are just as likely to have the condition as youths. The disorder normally makes itself apparent during childhood, with difficulties at school being one of the most common hallmarks of the condition, which helps to explain why so much focus has been on children with the disease. However, children with attention deficit disorder grow up to be Adult Attention Deficit Disorder.

Typically, most doctors today will begin your Adult Attention Deficit Disorder treatment by prescribing a selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor, or SSRI, such as Prozac, Zoloft, or Lexapro. SSRIs have been helpful for many in treating their adult attention deficit disorders.

If you are not getting any relief in your symptoms with an SSRI, you may be prescribed a stimulant, such as Ritalin, Adderall or Concerta. These should be taken with caution, as they are addictive drugs, and should be avoided entirely if you have a history of substance abuse.

Adult Attention Deficit Disorder is essentially the same condition as the one child has. If you are an adult and you are having trouble focusing at work, difficulty listening to people in everyday conversations, find yourself interrupting people a lot, losing things frequently, are easily distracted from tasks, are easily frustrated or find yourself feeling over stimulated often, you may have Adult Attention Deficit Disorder.

Treatment for Adult Attention Deficit Disorder mirrors the treatments used for children with the condition. The first step you need to take if you suspect you may have an Adult Attention Deficit condition is to of course see a doctor. There are bunches of other disorders that can mimic an Adult Attention Deficit condition, such as anxiety, obsessive Compulsive Disorder, depression, or Bipolar Disorder, and it's important that these be ruled out before trying treatments.

Get Your Email Accounts Free

If you are a complete nonprofessional with computers and the technology they offer, I suggest that you do some web browsing before purchasing anything. While you can achieve email accounts free, other services are free of charge as well. For example, a browser or two, probably come standard with your computer software. You will consistently see commercials advertising for browsers they swear are ideal, and you only pay so much a month. This is nonsense when you probably already have one that is free.

Companies offering email accounts often pitch certain advantages to their services. You will want to check and see if that perk is already standard on the free one you use. Chances are it is. In this wonderful world of technology, you no longer have to resort to a paper and pencil to communicate with a letter. Try a free email account, and you will be amazed at the time and money you save.

Email has certainly become our standard form of communication. Com'on, who writes letters anymore and sends them by Snail-Mail? Yes, I did say Snail-Mail, because it's slowww and require postage fee! The old pen and paper method seems like some scene out of an old, cheesy movie. Electronic mail is too simple and handy to avoid. These days it is easy to find email accounts free.

When this concept first exploded on the web scene, email was part of a software purchase half the time. No longer does this hold true. If you have an email account, it is likely that it was free of charge. A particular web company for example that offers email accounts free is MSN, or maybe you recognize the term, hotmail better.

Millions of us took advantage of hotmail when we realized that it would cost us virtually nothing. This email provider offers you quite a bit of space and consistent quality service. Other providers such as Yahoo and Google offer email accounts free too. Gmail seems to be all the rage now. A great advantage that email has brought us is the freedom from expense. Think of how much you spend on a long distance phone call. You may talk for hours on end.

Now, if you put all of your thoughts into an email, you can send it for free. There are even audio and visual aids these days. You can have a phone-like connection through the Internet for no charge. Talk all you like at any hour. It does not cost anything. Since we do have the ability to attain email accounts free, many of us are finding those new ways to save money.

Also if you sign up for any free email account, checkout the POP3 feature which once enabled it, will let you download your emails from your web account to your computer Email Client, for example Outlook Express etc. In this way, you won't have to logon to your Email server anymore, but instead, read and reply to emails directly from your own computer.

Search For Jobs With My 5 Tips

For a long time the Newspaper Classifieds and Word-of-Mouth were the only two ways you could find a job without going door knocking. Note that Word-of-Mouth is still perhaps the best way to search for jobs, as over 60 percent of jobs are never publicly listed. As the saying goes, it is not "What you know" BUT "Who you know" and how you manage to use your social-connections.

If you are like most people, you need to eats and spends. Eating requires money to buy food, unless you are privy to some handy barter scheme, or unless you have won the inheritance lottery, you are going to need to work for you food money. This means you need to find a job. Sure, you could make walking door-to-door and looking for help wanted signs, but the most efficient way to search for jobs is going to be through the Internet especially if you considered yourself talented in some places.

Nevertheless, asking relatives, past business associates, and friends if they know of anyone who's hiring. This can be especially important if you are looking for a job in a particular field. If you cannot score anything by Word-of-Mouth, the classifieds may still be worth a read, but many Newspapers publish their classifieds online anyway, so an Internet search will still make things easier while keeping your options open.

Many other smaller websites allow you to search for jobs in your immediate area or in your area of expertise, though the latter listings are often nationwide. It is important to note that not all Internet Job Postings are what they seem; any recruiter who asks you to pay money before you start is probably running some sort of a Scam, pyramid or otherwise. In tradition, those employers seeking for their suitable candidates always pay the costs.

Imagine if you were to apply for a job in your hometown and the business owner offered to hire you, but first wanted a $5 bill. These Internet Scams, often billed as "Work At Home" opportunities, are equally dubious or trustworthy.

However, if you stick to legitimate sites and present yourself as an attractive job candidate, the Internet will allow you to search for jobs faster and easier than searching through the daily Newspaper with a highlighter.

As with most forms of communication, the sites with the most traffic are often the most helpful (it does not do you any good to own the only telephone). Those legitimate sites have thousands of job posts every day, and both are searchable by geographic locale, employment type, and salary. You can also post your resume and allow recruiters to come to you. Hope you will find your sweet job soon. Cheers!

By the way, if you wish to be your own boss on the Internet; If you have basic Website building skill, com'on, here's another business opportunity for you. Join me as a Web-Publisher! Details are in this Video Presentation. Please bear with it and try some other time if the Video site is congested. Just too many people are watching it and you might find it hard to get in.

Find The Right Four Season Tents For Your Events

A right tent should be designed to handle the most severe conditions of outside living. This includes not only the cool breezes of spring, not only the scorching sun of summer, but also the freezing temperatures of winter and the storminess of autumn. That is why four season tents are a popular choice for camping enthusiasts. Four season tents can withstand heavy snow, heavy rainfall, and high winds, perhaps produced from a thunderstorm.

Though they are designed to live up to their name, usable all year around, some campers report that these four season tents, also called Mountaineering Tents, can be too heavy and hot in the summertime. Four season tents are usable in hot seasons, but were created mainly for wintertime camping. The greatest advantage of these tents is the ability to keep the heat in and the cold out.

Camping is fun for the whole family. It also happens to be cheap entertainment, an unpredictable adventure, and a way to commune with nature. However, sleeping in a tree or on the cold hard ground is considered a little too extreme even in the spirit of "roughing it." In addition, renting a nearby motel defeats the whole purpose of camping, and is, of course, not cheap.

Therefore, tents are a practical investment if your family is dead-set on going camping every few months. However, not just any tent will suffice. There is no telling what the weather will be like when you finally get there -- whether it is in the summer, fall, winter, or spring. Needless to say, a tent that would keep you cool and relaxed in the spring might let you freeze to death in mid January. Therefore considering purchasing one of the four season tents is a great idea.

However, considering that you are buying a temporary home away from home and a comfortable all weather one at that, the price is reasonable. Four season tents let you camp in comfort, and keep you safe from nasty weather all year long.

They can come in different sizes. While many are two person tents, some bigger tents can comfortably fit four people inside. These four season tents come with multiple doors for quick entrance and exit, and are easy to set up with a few notes of instruction.

Popular models are the Mountain Hardwear Trango 2, The North Face Mountain 25, the Bibler Fitzroy, and the Eureka! Alpenlite XT. How much do four season tents costs? The typical price for four season tents ranges between $300 and $500, though some models can cost as much as $700 and above. Well, their prices are based on the size and extra features.

Vampire Makeup For Spooky Night

Are you finding Vampire makeup? Are you going to be Dracula for Halloween this year? Have you tried the new Freddy costumes yet? On the other hand, maybe you are more of a Jason fan. There is certainly something to be said about all that 80s slasher flick propaganda. It seems like we horror movie nuts cannot get enough of it. Why else would we spend our Halloweens prancing around like a cinema serial killer? Personally, I tend to go with the same costume every year.

I know what you are thinking; how boring. Well, when it comes to Vampire makeup and a good set of fangs, I just have trouble saying no. Surely, there is a costume or character that has this same effect on you. Is it a Witch, Warlock or Werewolf? Or do you like to invent your own monster get-up? Regardless of what you like to be, the best place to shop for supplies is the World-Wide-Web. Where did you think I got my fangs and Vampire makeup?

Is it Halloween yet? Man, it is taking forever to get here! I just cannot wait to scare some tiny trick-or-treaters. That is always my favorite part. I can whip out my handy Vampire makeup, glue in my fake fangs and pull on my dark cloak. You should just see how well I actually resemble Dracula. Okay, minus the whole bug-eating thing.

The reason I prefer cyberspace is because of the selection. Compared to Halloween shops and other stores, there is simply no question. I don't care if you're searching for mere Vampire makeup or an entire King Kong costume, the Internet is the place to look. Not to mention you can do it easily from the privacy of your own home.

You can hardly beat that. So if you are ready to go costume hunting or just need to pick up some fake blood and Vampire makeup, hop online and check out the selection. They literally have prices that compete with anyone.

Anyway, that night full of spooks, strange sounds, and howling monsters sure can be a blast if you do it right. Last year I was able to scare at least a dozen little witches, goblins and ghouls out of their wits. Of course then I gave them a hefty portion of candy to smooth things over.

This way they get the full effect of that eerie autumn night that only comes around once each year. They get the trick and the treat. Anyone else up for a little Halloween fun and excitement? That spooky evening is drawing near, beware…

What Is The Difference Of Western Christmas Cards?

Sending western Christmas cards can provide a unique touch to your holiday cheer. When most people think about season greeting cards, western Christmas cards are probably the last thing on their mind. Although websites on the Internet are offering free virtual greeting cards, this should not discourage you from sending out a western Christmas card to your recipients, it feels more sincere when people can actually receive and touch your cards. They know you take times and efforts (and those stamp fees of course!) to send them your greetings rather than just log online and send them virtual cards with a few mouse clicks.

One of the things that I like the very best of all about western Christmas cards is that they help you to show your friends, families, and loved ones how universal the spirit of Christmas is. With traditional Christmas cards, there is this very Eurocentric take on the holiday. It is all from the experiences of Northern Europeans on Christmas, with snow and thick, evergreen forests.

However, when you send or receive western Christmas cards, you get to acknowledge that people all over the world celebrate Christmas it also makes you rethink the traditional images that are associated with the Christmas season. Take the manger, for instance. Bethlehem is in Israel. Do you think that it was really snowing there? Of course not.

Like the decorated Christmas cactus in the western Christmas cards I sent last year, our own ideas of Christmas reflect not on the traditional reading of the bible, but on our own cultural understandings of what Christmas means to all of us.

ON the contrary, if anything it should encourage you. I mean, who wants to send out exactly the same boring season's greeting cards as their neighbor does. Wouldn't you rather be different? I know that, since I began sending out western Christmas cards instead of the regular kind, I have been receiving all sorts of compliments on them.

You might not have ever even seen a western Christmas card before, so I guess that I should explain just what they are. What make western Christmas cards different from other more traditional ones are the layout and the design; rather than some kind of Charles Ives sort of scene of a winter wonderland, where kids with rosy cheeks throw snowballs or ride around on sleds, western Christmas cards send a greeting from a part of the country where it never snows.

They have all kinds of southwestern motifs on them, including interesting borders and tan, dusty backgrounds. They will usually feature something a little unique and quirky, something that most people would not think of with Christmas, but which makes sense nonetheless. For example, some western Christmas cards have pictures of cacti on them. Others have pueblos covered with Christmas lights.

Ipod Accessories For This Season Greeting

As the Holiday season drew ever closer, many people waited patiently for the gift giving experts to announce the best idea and the hottest electronic gifts of the season. Yet with the abundance of Ipods that went out just sometime ago, it makes sense that this coming season, to accompany those Ipods, everyone is asking for Ipod accessories.

Just as a purse may come with a wallet, and sunglasses come with a case… there is a long list of Ipod accessories that are arguably more in demand than even the Ipod was last year. With prices for these Ipod Accessories ranging anywhere from $29 on the low end, for an armband to go with the new Nano, all the way up to $500 on the high end, for sound insulating earphones, there is no doubt that wallets will be stretched thin again this year as parents try to answer to their children's Christmas lists.

Last holiday season, Apple Ipods were all the rage in terms of the newest & hippest electronic gadgets; everybody wanted one, and many people gave one. Parents rushed to the stores through out the shopping season to snag the newest sizes and the hottest colors, before they were sold out.

Upon returning to school from their winter breaks, teens could be seen through out the school hallways bopping their heads along to the song of the moment that they had just downloaded from their computer. Bridging generations, the sale, and use of Ipods even managed to stretch beyond the teenyboppers, as adults of all ages wore these new gadgets to the gym, in the aisles of the grocery store, and when taking the train to work.

Many of these Ipod Accessories will satisfy the recipient who is looking for the latest in music technology, as Apple offers up Bose Speakers, docking centers and car kits for the Apple Ipod. For those of you more interested in high fashion, there is even a line of protective cases designed by Kate Spade to indulge even the trendiest person on your list.

Shopping for Ipod Accessories this year may in fact make gift giving for some that much easier as almost any of the accessories will not only be high on the wish list, but will surely score the gift giver points with the recipient.

Between the Ipod, Mini, Nano and Shuffle, you quickly may become just as disoriented as if you were ordering from the drive thru window for all those 7-year olds that you cram into the back of your mini-van after a soccer game. The only warning I can give you as you hit the electronics section of your favorite department store, or begin browsing on the internet in search of these items… make sure you buy the right size for the right people.
