Abortion and Its Afterbirth!

Read this first! Abortion information is essential, and a woman should not feel that there is no choice. Health care providers are in a position to present accurate abortion information and assist women to make the choice that is right for them. To choose between continuing with the pregnancy or having an abortion would be a difficult one for any woman to make if the situation called for it.

My dear readers!

This is a personal testimony about one of our sons. We had five sons, all wonderful people. As I approach my twilight years, I become increasingly grateful for them and their contributions to life. They have been more than a joy to us, they have become our inspiration, as well. Unfortunately our oldest opted to check out of life at the tender age of 19, but even from this tragedy lilies grew on the rod of sorrow.

This is about our youngest son. When I became pregnant with this child my doctor, who was a personal friend as well, was very concerned. He was so sure I would not make it through the pregnancy because of complications when our fourth son was born (the surgeon told me a few days after our fourth son's birth, "We almost lost mother and baby"). My doctor told me (this was before Roe v. Wade) that I could have what he called a therapeutic abortion, it was legal, and it was a "choice" that I could make without permanent damage to my conscience.

Read this first! Abortion information is widely available from health care providers in a variety of settings, not to mention the great amount that is accessible on the internet.

Well, I made my "choice" and chose to have the baby. This baby is now 40 years old, an awesome presence and delight. He is a son, husband and father, and I can't imagine him not being a part of our lives. His wife, who we love just as much as we love our son, is a wonderful lady, and they have given us three grandchildren who have given our sunset years more happiness than we could have imagined.

I suppose my point is this: faith that God can see us through the tough times definitely pays. This young man and his family are so fine! Had I chosen to delete this blob from my life (which is what the prevailing notion is about that "thing" in mommy's tummy), just think what we would have missed!

Given today's climate of staying in the comfort zone, I admit that if I had to make the choice today, I might choose to take the easy way out, and I'm ashamed to admit it. But oh! how grateful I am that God gave me the faith to carry this baby, and to grant me the PRIVILEGE of being his mother! Perhaps that is what we have forgotten: that to be a mother is to be a part of God's creative act. And it is indeed a privilege!

Read this first! Abortion information made available by pro-choice groups, such as Planned Parenthood, discusses abortion procedures in detail, when each can be performed, the risks, and outcomes of each. Counseling is required before the decision is made forward to either have the abortion or not.

An Anonymous shares these thoughts:

Would you consider abortion in the following four situations?

1. There's a preacher and wife who are very, very poor. They already have 14 children. Now she finds out she's pregnant with their 15th! They're living in tremendous poverty. Considering their poverty and the excessive world population, would you recommend she get an abortion?

2. The father is sick with sniffles, the mother has TB. They have four children. The first child is blind, the second is dead. The third child is deaf, the fourth has TB. She finds she's pregnant again. Given the extreme situation, would you consider recommending abortion?

3. A white man raped a 13 year old black girl and she became pregnant. If you were her parents, would you consider recommending abortion?

Read this first! Abortion is not a pleasant subject for casual discussion. Pro-life and pro-choice supporters both feel strongly about their convictions, and each side holds certain beliefs regarding abortion and the unborn fetus.

4. A teenage girl is pregnant. She's not married. Her fiance is not the father of the baby, and he's very upset. Would you consider recommending abortion?

If you would have recommended abortion in any of these situations, you should know that...

In the first case, you recommended killing John Wesley, one of the great evangelists of the 19th century.

In the second case, you recommended killing Ludwig Von Beethoven, one of the most famous musical composers of all time. (He also became deaf at an early age).

In the third case, you recommended killing Ethel Waters, one of the nations leading gospel singers.

In the fourth case, you have just recommended killing Jesus Christ.

It is not something that they want to accept and they do not want these clinics in their areas. Is this something that is right? Should other people have the right to say that woman do not have a choice in the matter of their own body? This is a question that has been asked for many years.

Teenage Pregnancy

Read this first! Trained professionals are available to provide women with pertinent abortion information and lead them to an informed decision. A pregnancy is a life event and the decision whether to keep the pregnancy or not, should not be taken lightly and all long term ramifications must be considered.

Teenage pregnancy has always been seen as a problem of the western world but the hard reality is that it exists as much in our society as it does in the west. Pre-marital sex is not just common to cultures abroad but also to our culture, whether we are willing to accept this or not another thing. Pre-marital sex and teenage pregnancy is a definite component of our society, period! It mostly goes unnoticed due to the social stigma attached to the unwed girl or her family.

Teenage pregnancy is more a problem in rural societies of India than in urban set ups. The poor soul is seen as an outcast and the stigma is carried for a life time or even for generations ahead. Urban India is changing by the day. With live-in relationships, pre-marital sex and free sex on the rampant, it's a completely new world but rural India is unfortunately not moving with the same pace. With problems of pre-marital sex and pregnancy come other issues like HIV and AIDS. Authorities need to create a larger awareness among these poor rural folks about the use of contraception other wise we will all soon wake up to another set of a very different kind of problem.

Read this first! oth sides use this case as a cornerstone of their arguments. Many groups site religious and ethical concerns about the procedure and the developing fetus, and they have the right to express these concerns, but they do not have the right to unfairly influence any woman̢۪s right to choice.

It's time we admit that the difference between the cultures of India and the west on this particular issue is ‘not that pre-marital sex exists in the west and does not exist in India', but that the west is more open on these issues and therefore register it while in India it's a very hush-hush thing and there is no way an anyone is going to find out about it! This is a call to move on from a state of denial to that of acceptance of reality and finding a solution quickly to avert more future problems.
